In this exciting, hands-on Quest in Science course, students will be introduced to the Earth’s biosphere, the thin, fragile shell of life that surrounds our planet. Students will study the biosphere by breaking it up into ecosystems and exploring the complex relationship between the biotic and abiotic factors that exist within them. Students will experiment with photosynthesis, model energy flow in a food web, examine the food chain by dissecting an owl pellet, and study decomposers both macroscopically and microscopically. During the second half of the course, our focus will be on life systems, both plant and animal. | Sword Fighters Society: Historical European Fencing - new & continuing students welcome - Spring '26 | Fri | Noel Rodriguez | 01/16 - 05/01 | 01:00 PM - 02:00 PM | 6 yrs & up | If you have ever wanted to learn how to use a sword this class is for you! Throughout the year, students will learn techniques developed by renaissance era european sword masters. This class will include studying the historical context of these techniques as well as developing the physical fitness required to practice these techniques. Note: This class was formerly known as Knight's Training. Any equipment purchased for Knight's Training will be used for Sword-Fighters Society. If you're new, there will be light contact sparring and to ensure students' safety, students must provide their own fencing mask. The brand and color are not important as long as it is a fencing mask that covers: the face, top and sides of the head.
