We are a learning and resource center for homeschool and hybrid school students and their parents. We serve ages 4 through high school with some Parent & Me classes for those younger than 4. Feel free to check out our schedules above by clicking on the location of interest to you. We offer tons of hands-on, interactive, project-based, small-group classes for children and sometimes adults. All our classes have a max of 12 students for individualized attention. We also enjoy having social activities and fieldtrips for families in a nurturing and fun environment to cultivate life-long friendships and community.
Our class offerings include in-person classes and also a list of live online Zoom courses with amazing teachers. As a result, our classes are available to students across our local cities as well as nationally and internationally. The homeschool community, present at each of the physical locations in the Santa Clarita and San Fernando Valleys, is what keeps everyone wanting to come back for more fun! Because of the strong communities, both our students and teachers are bummed when we have a break from classes for holiday or summer breaks!
At Learn Beyond The Book, we are deeply committed to creating a welcoming and intentionally inclusive environment where every student and family feels valued. We celebrate the richness that diverse backgrounds and perspectives bring to our community, while holding firmly to our core values of kindness, respect, and inclusivity and expecting our community to do the same. To keep our space safe and supportive for all, we do not engage in political, religious, divisive, or controversial topics outside of classes that might specifically be designed for that purpose. Instead, we focus on what unites us: our children, their love of learning, and the friendships and community we build together. Our goal is for every family who joins us to feel respected, supported, and appreciated. We want our students to appreciate the common humanity of others in their community, rather than being defined by differences. For more on our behavior and dress policy, click here. We teach kindness and respect for all people throughout all of our curriculum and in all our classes. In addition, we work hard to nurture them into well-rounded young adults by paying attention to not just academics, but also social and emotional well-being.
We want our classes to cultivate the enjoyment and love of learning, which is so natural for children. Therefore, we work hard on establishing that with loving, kind, respectful teachers who care about each child’s development. Discussions with students, to see what they’re interested in studying, are part of the student-guided curriculum. We also focus on helping them grow in true inner happiness by equipping them with skills that can only come when teachers truly love and care for their students and work as partners with the parents. Our focus is more on exploration and learning rather than on the outcome of test scores. Character development and community are some of our core values, so we encourage healthy relationships.
Every student is welcomed in a person-centered way recognizing everyone as unique individuals with dreams, talents, ideas, and challenges and we work closely with parents and staff to ensure each class is a great fit for each child. While we strive to support neurodiverse students within our resources and staff capabilities as well, we may not always be equipped to meet the needs of students with higher levels of neurodiversity. In such cases, we may recommend alternative options, such as one-on-one tutoring, to better serve the student.
