This course is designed to serve as an introduction to the materials and techniques of oil painting. Students will learn traditional techniques and vocabulary associated with painting including concepts like: color theory, proportion, and composition. Each week students will learn a new concept associated with oil painting and then practice that concept in a sample piece. By the end of the course, students will create their own original work and be able to comfortably use oil paints to realize their own artistic vision. Students will receive a list of supplies to purchase before the first week.
