This class will focus on paragraph and essay writing.  Students will learn the six traits of writing: ideas, organization, sentence fluency, word choice, voice, and conventions and go through the stages of the writing process including brainstorming, prewriting, drafting, revision, proofreading and publishing.   We will begin with creating a well-structured paragraph and progress to multi-paragraph essays. The class will be taught in a seminar format in which students will share their work and receive feedback from their peers at all stages of the writing process.  Special emphasis will be placed on creating a positive, supportive environment where everyone feels safe to express himself/herself.
