We will explore traditions and fibers from around the world, and I will tell stories of spinning, weaving, and dyeing with natural plant materials from many cultures, from around the world, and from historical periods reaching back thousands of years. Students will be introduced to the use and care of many natural fibers including wool, cotton, flax, alpaca, silk, mohair, and others. This class is a core unit in the 3rd grade Waldorf curriculum.
