In this Creative Writing and Art combo class, we will explore New York Times bestselling author Shel Silverstein’s hilarious and imaginative poems and drawings. Taking inspiration from Shel and a toolbox of literary techniques, students will be encouraged each week to find their own style of writing and illustrating poems. This class will focus on the potential and power of poetry and how illustration can add both meaning and humor.

Students need to bring an unlined journal and pencil to take notes. There is one required text: A Light in the Attic by Shel Silverstein.
