When Yuri Gagarin became the first person in space, he traveled around the Earth in 2 hrs. That marked the moment when humankind moved beyond observing the mighty sky and started to explore it. This class is one of my passion subjects: the Universe. We will study the Milky Way, the Solar system, including all planets, dwarf planets, moons, asteroids, and comets. We will talk about how stars work, how they are born, and how they die. Black Holes? Bring them on! We will map the celestial sphere and learn the myths behind the constellations. Space Exploration will take an essential part in our studies, from the race to the Moon to our intentions to colonize Mars, making sure we meet the scientists and adventurers that are making it possible. Come and join our astronaut training class. No need for a spacesuit. Students will work on presentations and video quizzes. This class is intended for FALL and SPRING semesters Materials and Books:SPACE! https://www.amazon.com/Space-Universe-Before-Knowledge-Encyclopedias/dp/1465438068/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=space%21&qid=1625646855&sr=8-8
