Beginning/Intermediate Sewing – Sewing can be a valuable life skill. The satisfaction of wearing or using an item that “I made myself” can give a person a great deal of self confidence. This class is designed to allow beginning students to learn the basics in a fun and safe environment, while allowing intermediate level students to begin work on more challenging projects. I would also like to spend some time working on hand sewing, mending and alterations. (ie, torn garments, ripped seams, broken zippers, missing buttons, etc. Please send any items fitting this description to class for repair!) Even if students never do another “made from scratch” project after leaving this class, the basic ability to save an item with a quick fix or minor alteration will serve them later in life.
Each student will need to have a working sewing machine and other basic sewing accessories. A list of recommended accessories will be sent to the parent prior to the first class. Students will be required to provide their own materials for the class based on chosen projects. Parents will receive a detailed list of what will be needed once a project is chosen.
