If you don’t love Dr. Seuss already, you will by the end of this class! Dr. Seuss, captivating audiences, young and old, is one of my favorite authors! We will listen to selected songs from the hit Broadway musical, Seussical in this class to tie it all together. Over the course of the semester, we will read several of his most well-known and loved works, discuss it, then reinforce it by doing various activities based on the book of the week. This will include activities such as making “Cat in the Hat” cookies one week, acting out the story another week, making our own oobleck with Bartholomew, learning about rhyming and poetry, starting recycling projects with the Lorax and many more. We will also learn about Dr. Seuss and his struggles to become published, in which case we will all come up with our own seusstastical stories. Don’t forget to bring your imaginations to class!
