Parkour

What is parkour?

By definition, Parkour is the act of moving from point “a” to point “b” using the obstacles in your path to increase your efficiency. However, over time it has become so much more.  Parkour is based on what every kid is best at – the natural workout of play!

The sport of parkour utilizes obstacle courses that involve physical abilities like running, climbing, and jumping.  It is great for kids who don’t tend to gravitate towards team sports, are self conscious about their physical abilities, or just lack interest in leaving their screen time! For kids who are already athletic, parkour can fine tune their abilities and condition them even further since this sport gives kids a full body workout. Parkour not only encourages kids to play while learning the fundamentals,  it also helps them think on their feet. Parkour gives kids a positive way to direct their energy, helping them form healthy exercise habits, develop a love of movement, and allows them to showcase their creativity. This class will challenge them both physically and mentally through all the basic skills and techniques found in parkour, engaging kids with fun drills and games in a safe environment. Students will also learn the important aspects of Parkour philosophy such as solving problems, setting goals and  overcoming fear and mental blocks.
