Learn to play violin, viola, or mandolin while also developing musicianship skills beginning with how to keep a steady beat and carry a tune all the way through reading and improvisation. Students will sing, chant rhythms, and learn tunes by ear on their instrument both in class and at home with a take-home CD.
Through listening, playing, and live demonstrations students will explore how string instruments are used in a variety of music styles including classical, jazz, bluegrass, and contemporary music.
Students are encouraged use the skills they learn in class to learn their favorite tunes on their own, experiment and be creative.
STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO OWN OR RENT AN INSTRUMENT TO USE IN THE CLASS. ONCE YOU REGISTER, YOU WILL RECEIVE INFORMATION ABOUT WHERE TO DO SO AND THERE WILL ALSO BE INFORMATION AT THE OPEN HOUSE ON JUNE 10.
