Making & Playing your own musical instruments, Math & Music

Come learn how instruments work, make your own version of some instruments and learn basic music theory and how instruments are used and played.

Students will also look at the relationships between math and musical rhythms. Each class will include both a discussion of rhythmic concepts such as note durations and time signatures. In realtime they will play with drum stick on a drum pad, combining kinesthetic playing while counting and subdividing rhythms.

Students learn to work with fractions, subtraction, and addition in a fun approachable way!  They will be exploring 16th notes and dividing the beats by multiple note divisions. We will work on multiple time signatures, exploring math and rhythm in kinesiology by clapping and drumming in time.
