This class is focused on the reading, discussion, analysis, and assessment of the works of William Shakespeare as story and drama.
Through individual, small ground, and class exercises ranging from fundamental text analysis, to the study of historical context, to an introduction to classical dramaturgy, the coach and students will participate in the breakdown of the character, scene, conflict, and context of one or two of the major plays from the canon.
Near the end of the term students will have an opportunity to examine and experiment with how Shakespeare’s stories were brought to life on stage, both during the Elizabethan Era and today by performing a few scenes.
