Few courses help students understand themselves and others as they develop through various stages of life that we all go through, as this psychology course does. This course provides an overview, from a psychological perspective, of human development from conception through death, including biological and environmental influences. Theories and research of physical, cognitive, personality, and social development will also be explored, and we will focus on understanding developmental problems as well. The class can be taken in conjunction with the recommended college-level psychology course for community college credit (with Psychology 101 as a prerequisite), or students can take it as a high school elective. Either way, students will develop a greater understanding of the experiences we all go through and even have a better understanding of skills and concepts that will help them when they have kids of their own someday.
