INTRO TO OIL PAINTING (13-Adult)

This 8 week course is designed for beginner oil painters with little or no experience working with oil paints. For the first 4 weeks, painters will become familiar with the artistic vocabulary and the qualities of oil paints. This will be done through discussion of painting techniques, theories, and practiced by working on a new alla prima painting each week. Then for the remaining weeks, painters will work from 1-2 photos of their choosing to put their newly learned techniques to the test.

ADVANCED OIL PAINTING (13-Adult)

This 4 week course aims to further develop the skills acquired from the introductory class. A focus will be placed on learning to paint from life. A live, clothed model will be brought in to pose for students for some of the sessions. Still lifes and artworks from the masters will also be recreated by students. Some experience working with oil paints is required, as the basic concepts are presumed to be known.
