This class will begin with a few small projects to practice and refine careful, precise stitching.
Then the first half of the class will teach and practice various decorative embroidery stitches on
useful and decorative items, followed in the second half of the class by hand quilting, making a
pillow cover in a traditional pattern, and other items as interest and time allow.
The fine finger movement and visual/ spatial and planning skills needed in quilting and
embroidery all support later academic success. Traditions and customs from various cultures
and historical periods will be explored through stories.
