In this fun and educational workshop the students will be introduced to the art of glass fusing by creating several different projects. The students will learn how to correctly and safely cut different types of glass and which tools to use for each one. With each project students will learn a variety of methods of incorporating these various glasses into their designs. We will explore what happens inside the kiln when glass is fused and learn about the different ways glass can be formed in the kiln discussing the Science behind it all. We will also discover how to create bubbles inside the glass and use paints and decals to create beautiful scenes on the glass. The students will learn about ‘Kiln Carving’ and create a small piece of glass art using this technique. Each week every student will complete two projects which can be turned into wearable jewelry or home décor for a total of 10 items, which makes beautiful gifts (see pictures of some examples).

Note:

This is not a glass blowing glass, there is no open flame. Glass will be fired in a kiln off site.

All materials, as well as all the tools and safety equipment are provided.
