This course will provide students with an understanding of film genres and the stylistic choices that make each genre a unique story telling medium. Students will watch age appropriate clips from movies of different eras and styles. Then the class will analyze what techniques the film maker used such as plot tropes, arch-types, settings, and story outlines to create the film. The class will then re-create their own scenic versions on film, written and preformed by them. They will be given feedback and direction of how to more effectively capture the genre and also instruction on acting technique.
