Early Modern History (1600-1850AD) Art

8-11yo. & 11-14yo.

 

Ashlyn will be covering the history of Art during this time, emphasizing various great artists, such as Rembrandt, Velazquez, Hokusai and many more.  Students will be creating artworks inspired by these artist (often in the same style) after exploring their place in Art History.

01/28/15 Week #1

Lesson: Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun (French, 1755-1842)

Objectives: Learn about the artist and her historical setting – Create an artwork to reinforce learning: Charcoal/Chalk Pastel/Acrylics – Tribute to 18th century Big Hair & Big Hats.

 

02/11/15 Week #2

Lesson: Caspar David Friedrich (German, 1774-1840)

Objectives: Learn about the artist and his historical setting – Create an artwork to reinforce learning: Chalk Pastel/Charcoal/Sharpie/Acrylics – Silhouetted Figure & Misty Valley.

 

02/25/15 Week #3

Lesson: Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot (French, 1796-1875)

Objectives: Learn about the artist and his historical setting – Create an artwork to reinforce learning: Chalk Pastel/Charcoal/Acrylics – View Out of the Deep Woods.

 

03/11/15 Week #4

Lesson: Camille Pissarro (Danish/French, 1830-1903)

Objectives: Learn about the artist and his historical setting – Create an artwork to reinforce learning: Acrylics – Exercise in Vanishing Point, Nighttime Cityscape.

 

03/25/15 Week #5

Lesson: Édouard Manet (French, 1832-1883)

Objectives: Learn about the artist and his historical setting – Create an artwork to reinforce learning: Mixed Media – Tribute to Manet’s “Cafe” Scenes.

 

04/15/15 Week #6

Lesson: Edgar Degas (French, 1834-1917)

Objectives: Learn about the artist and his historical setting – Create an artwork to reinforce learning: Oil Pastel/Chalk Pastel/Charcoal/Acrylics – Tribute to Degas’s Ballet Dancers.

 

04/29/15 Week #7

Lesson: George Catlin (American, 1796-1872)

Objectives: Learn about the artist and his historical setting – Create an artwork to reinforce learning: Acrylics/Chalk Pastel/Sharpie/Charcoal – Tribute to Catlin’s Native American Portraits/Landscapes.

Objectives: Finish all incomplete projects.
