College Dual-credit courses and details on what to do

FALL 2019

LA Valley College and LA Mission College (same college district so students will have the same student ID no.):

1. Apply at this link.

2. Once you receive your student ID no., fill out this K-12FillableForm and take to LA Valley College Admissions on or before May 28, 2019 or email to Elmarie for LA Mission College to LearnBeyondTheBook@gmail.com.  This form needs to be signed by your charter school high school counselor/teacher.  If you are filing your own PSA, you have to include a copy of that as well.  For LA Mission you also need to fill out One Directory Card.

3. Once your child is cleared in the system, you can enroll online by clicking “Register for Classes” on the college website.

Art History (counts as part of the Area 3 of IGETC requirements and high school visual&performing arts) – LA Mission College – Art 101 – section code 14692 – Learn Beyond The Book companion course is Mondays at 1pm-2:30pm with Autumn Harding
Political Science (counts for High School Civics and CSU transfer requirements area and Area 4 of IGETC requirements ) – LA Mission College, Pol.Sci. 001 – section code 19408 – 8-week course – Learn Beyond The Book companion course is Wednesdays at 2:30-4pm with Erin Donovan
Psychology 1 (counts for Area 4 of IGETC requirements and high school elective) – LA Mission College – Psych 001 – section code 17492 – Learn Beyond The Book companion course is Fridays at 1pm-2:30pm with Lizzie Scott
Ventura College:
2. Once you receive an email with a student ID no., fill out this form and follow directions at this link and take form in to Admissions on or before June 5.
3. Once your child is cleared in the system, you can enroll online by clicking “Register for Classes” on the college website.

Cultural Anthropology – Anth V02 (counts for Area 4 of IGETC requirements and high school elective) – Ventura Community College – Anth V02 – section code 79122 – Learn Beyond The Book companion course is Wednesdays at 4-5:30pm with Erin Donovan
Possible college courses for Spring 2020 (section codes not available yet):
History of Film (counts as part of the Area 3 of IGETC requirements and high school visual & performing arts)
English 101 (if students passed college placement test- fulfills Area 1 of IGETC requirements and 1 year of high school English) – should do prep class in the Fall to test into English 101 at the college
Abnormal Psychology – Psych 14 (counts for Area 4 of IGETC requirements and high school elective) – Psychology 1 is a prerequisite
Comparative World Religions (counts as part of the Area 3 of IGETC requirements and high school elective) – should take the course in the Fall as well
Biological Anthropology (counts for High School Biological Science but without a lab and Area 5 of IGETC – Biological Science without a lab) – should take the prep course in the Fall
History 2 (counts for Area 4 of IGETC requirements and high school world history) – students should take the High School World History class in the Fall
History 12 possibly – (counts for Area 4 of IGETC requirements and high school US history) – students should take the High School US History class in the Fall
Philosophy 1 (counts for Area 3 of IGETC requirements and high school elective)
