Basics of Drumming

Interested in learning to play the drums?  No matter which drum you want to learn to play, the first step is understanding rhythms and practicing drumming them.  In this class, students will look at the relationships between math and other disciplines. Each class will include both a discussion of rhythmic concepts such as note durations and time signatures. In realtime they will play with a drum stick on a drum pad, combining kinesthetic playing while counting and subdividing rhythms.

Students even learn to work with fractions, subtraction, and addition in a fun approachable way!  They will be exploring 16th notes and dividing the beats by multiple note divisions. We will work on multiple time signatures, exploring math and rhythm in kinesiology by clapping and drumming in time.
