Our Home Economics teacher, Christine Orris, will offer this 4 week Babysitting 101 course.

In the class, they will discuss basic child development (expectations of children physically, mentally, emotionally at various ages), health and safety issues, positive reinforcement and ways to discipline and speak to children that are appropriate as well as inappropriate, as well as ideas for activities to do with kids.  They would do some roleplaying as well as some “what would you do if….?” discussions.

If time allows they would also write up an “ad” or flyer for each student to solicit babysitting jobs, and prepare a “fun bag” of activities for them to take on jobs.
