This class will trace the development of Western civilization and culture from Ancient India, through Ancient Persia, Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, and Ancient Greece, to Roman times. The first semester will trace the movement of history through Ancient Egypt, and the second semester will pick up in Egypt, and travel through Ancient Greece to Rome.
In a Waldorf-oriented approach, students will gain an understanding of the crucial interplay of geography and history; of the development of the arts and literature through legend and mythology, and be introduced to the foundations of western science, medicine, politics, religion, and philosophy. We will take several – virtual – fieldtrips in time and space!
