This one-year course is a review and extension of the concepts taught in Algebra 1. You will gain a deeper insight into Mathematics and get to practice using your new skills with lots of examples and questions. In Algebra 2 you play with letters, numbers, and symbols and get to solve equations to find answers. Once you learn some of the “tricks”, it can be a fun challenge to figure out how to use your skills in solving each “puzzle”. With your new skills you will be able to put together equations so you can find good quality solutions to many tricky real-world situations.
You will learn about Polynomials, Inequalities, many types of Functions, and how to solve them. You will develop advanced algebra skills such as graphing, analyzing and interpreting functions such as polynomial, rational and exponential. Algebra I skills are used throughout this course.
Topics covered include:
- Equations
- Inequalities
- Linear functions
- Systems of Equations
- Complex numbers
- Factoring
- Quadratic Functions
- Polynomials
- Rational exponents and functions
- Parabolas, Circles, Ellipses and Hyperbolas
Every week there will be homework.
